Denison Police said one man died Wednesday after his vehicle hit a patch of ice along U.S. Highway 75 and rolled.

Lt. Mike Eppler said Rafael Torres Gonzales, 40, of Princeton, and his wife were traveling north on Highway 75 when their vehicle veered off the road near Grayson Drive and rolled down a steep embankment.

“It was a single-vehicle accident,” Eppler said. “The driver was coming down the highway, lost control, went off the embankment and wound up down there near the intersection, along the service road. The victim was ejected.”

Gonzales was taken to nearby Texoma Medical Center where he later died. Eppler said Gonzales’ wife was also taken to TMC for her injuries and is expected to recover. Gonzales was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Eppler said.
