The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office is warning of a phone scam in which callers have falsely identified themselves as agency representatives and requested financial information from recipients.
A message seeking comment from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office was not immediately returned Friday, but in a Facebook post published Thursday, the department said it is aware of multiple such attempts to gain personal information.
“The calls have ranged to calling about outstanding tickets, warrants and in reference to previous jailings,” the post read. “GCSO will not ask (for) personal or financial information over the phone. Do not give this information out to unsolicited callers.”
