The Sherman Parks and Recreation Department will hold a community input session Thursday to allow the public to discuss plans for work on the skate park at the city’s Hawn Park.
“The renovation of the skate park at Hawn Park is one of our big projects coming up, so we want all the information we can get,” Mayor David Plyler said when he announced the session during a Sherman City Council meeting earlier this month.
The come and go event will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the Sherman Parks & Recreation office at 1002 N. Music St. next to Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Sherman. The city is planning an update to the existing skate park and Parks and Recreation staff will be gathering input from the community Thursday on what the new skate park should include.
Hawn Park is located on 20 acres of land at 1202 S. Dewey Ave. In addition to the existing skate park, which was installed in 2002, Hawn Park also has a walking trail, sand volleyball court, playground equipment and the spray ground popular with children during the summer months.
