Denison Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two people wanted in connection with an October shoplifting incident.

The department released photos of a man and a woman Thursday that allegedly entered the Walmart in Denison on Oct. 29 and left with more than $500 in merchandise they didn’t paid for.

“He goes to the self checkout, runs a credit or debit card and then hits cancel,” Lt. Mike Eppler said of the male suspect. “Then he walks out of the store with the stuff, looking like he paid for it.”

Eppler said the couple also brought a child to the store, but the woman took the child to the parking lot while the man went to the checkout counter with the shopping cart. The Denison Police lieutenant said he did not know what items were taken from the store.

“If it’s just a theft and they haven’t been given a criminal trespass warning there previously, then it will be a misdemeanor theft,” Eppler said. “But if they’ve been in the store before, been given that criminal trespass warning and still came back and stole stuff, then it will be burglary of a building.”

Anyone able to identify the man or woman are asked to call Detective Steven Mackay at 903-465-2422, ext. 2321.
