Grand jurors returned indictments Wednesday against two people in the death of a local hotel clerk.

Karalyn Cross, 19, of Denison and Nikeya Grant, 24, of Sherman were each indicted on one count capital murder, one count of aggravated robbery and one count of engaged in an organized criminal activity. The indictments are formal charges and are not an indication of guilt.

The charges stem from the death of Brandon Hubert on Aug. 11. Hubert was working as a clerk at the Quality Suites on U.S. Highway 75 in Sherman when he was killed during what authorities have said was a robbery.

Sherman Police were dispatched to the Quality Suites shortly after 5 a.m. on Aug. 11 after receiving a report that an unresponsive man was found in the hotel. In the following days, the department released few details on the investigation but did circulate photos on social media of a woman who was wanted for questioning in connection with the case. Sherman Police Sgt. D.M. Hampton said the woman in the photo turned out to be Cross and the break led to the identification of Grant and Reginald Vernard Campbell Jr. as suspects.
