A Sherman woman was arrested Tuesday night after she allegedly stole a case of beer and threatened a store manager with a hammer.

Sherman Police Department Sgt. D.M. Hampton said the 32-year-old woman, was arrested on a charge of aggravated robbery for the incident, which occurred at the Dollar General of East Lamar Street around 10 p.m.

“Basically the woman walked into the back and grabbed a case of beer,” Hampton said. “As she walked past all the last points of sale, the manager followed her out of the store and into the parking lot. The manager told her they wouldn’t call the cops if she just brought the beer back. That’s when she threatened the manager with the hammer.”

Hampton said the manager then called police.

“Officers made contact with her not far from the store there and found that she either had the hammer still or it was found in the area where she was stopped,” Hampton said.

A search of the Grayson County Jail records indicates the woman remained in custody Wednesday morning on a $20,000 surety bond. It was unclear whether she has an attorney.
