Texoma Community Center’s Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program recently linked up with the Denison Independent School District to provide students with substance use education. The program is for students involved in extracurricular activities who meet criteria for the education program.

While TCC does not currently offer substance use treatment services to minors, this program will bring information to adolescents about substances.

“This is an exciting opportunity for our team to step into the high school and meet adolescents at a highly vulnerable stage in their development,” TCC SUD Program Director Kristi Gourd said in a press release. “The TCC SUD team is hopeful that through education, we can prevent and/or interrupt the onset of substance use disorders in teens.”

Currently, TCC offers adult outpatient substance use treatment, adult specialized female outpatient services, outreach, screening, assessment, and referral to treatment to adolescents as well as adults, office-based opioid treatment, drug offender education program and DOT SAP Assessments.
