The Whitewright Police Department released details of an attempted kidnapping that took place on Monday evening.

Police say a “young man” was walking from his school to the library at approximately 5 p.m. when a male suspect driving a white mini van approached him at the intersection of Sears and Maple. The male suspect grabbed the victim’s wrist, but the victim was able to break away and ran to the library for help.

The suspect is described as a white male with gauged earrings. He is also believed to have a tattoo on his right forearm in the shape of an “x” or a cross.
