A shooting incident that started in Fannin County came to a conclusion in Whitewright after two vehicles crashed Monday night.


The incident started in Fannin County after the sheriff’s office was notified of a shooting, according to a Whitewright Police Department news release. The driver of a Dodge pickup reportedly fired gunshots at a semitrailer. As the incident traveled into Grayson County, the call was transferred to the respective sheriff’s office.


At about 8 p.m., the pickup and the semitrailer collided near the intersection of State Highway 69 and Bond Street. The collision caused the pickup to flip, trapping its driver inside. The pickup driver was transported by helicopter to a Plano hospital, according to the release.


The release noted that the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office will be investigating the shooting incident, and Whitewright Police are handling the crash investigation. The release noted that no additional details would be release as of Tuesday as the investigation is underway.
