Crews from several area fire departments spent Sunday afternoon battling a grassfire near Gordonville. Sherwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tim Bilderback said Sunday afternoon that crews were still on scene but they are just mopping up. He said the fire is reported to have been started when a vehicle drove off onto some dry grass. He said the fire is thought to have consumed about 20 acres.

"We don't know yet (the exact amount burned) it is rough terrain," Bilderback said.

A number of local departments helped Sherwood Shores with the blaze, including Whitesboro, Gunter, Tom,Bean, Callisburg, Gordonville and Pottsboro. Departments were being released from the scene at 4 p.m. But the Grayson County Fire Marshal was still on the scene.
