Denison Police


Scam — A victim stated on Jan. 24 that he was contacted by telephone, and told he had won the lottery, but was required to send money to an agent with the lottery. The victim sent more than $2,600. The investigation will continue.


Driving while intoxicated — A vehicle was stopped on Jan. 21 for a traffic violation in the 200 block of West Heron. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated.


Traffic stop — A vehicle was stopped on Jan. 21 for a traffic violation in the 500 block of West Murray. A subject was arrested for an outstanding city of Denison warrant, another subject was arrested for failure to identify/false or fictitious name and fraudulent use of identifying information, and the driver was arrested for failure to display license, expired registration and no insurance.


Evading arrest — A complainant stated on Jan. 21 that his girlfriend had attempted to assault him, and then left in a vehicle. The vehicle was located a short time later. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation, the driver fled in the vehicle. The vehicle stopped at a residence in the 1100 block of West Morton, and she then fled on foot, but was apprehended. Carter was arrested for no operator’s license and evading arrest/detention.


Stolen vehicle — A victim stated on Jan. 21 that someone stole his metallic blue 1994 Ford F-250 pickup with Texas license plate CA5-2304.


Traffic stop — A vehicle was stopped on Jan. 22 for a traffic violation in the 900 block of West Owings. One subject was arrested for outstanding city of Denison warrants, tampering with evidence, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Another subject was arrested on an outstanding city of Denison warrant.


Traffic stop — A vehicle was stopped on Jan. 22 for a traffic stop in the 600 block of North Bush. Two subjects were arrested for outstanding city of Denison warrants.


Counterfeit currency — A complainant stated on Jan. 22 that someone passed a counterfeit $50 bill at a local business in the 1400 block of West Morton. We will be following up on leads.


Traffic stop — A vehicle was stopped on Jan. 22 for a traffic violation in the 200 block of North Armstrong. A subject was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.


Disturbance — A complainant in the 1600 block of West Hull stated on Jan. 22 that he and his girlfriend got into an argument, and she was throwing things at him. The girlfriend stated that they got into an argument, but stated the complainant was breaking things, choked her, and took her phone away when she called for help. A case will be forwarded to the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office.


Suspicious person — Officers responded to a call on Jan. 22 of a male stumbling and falling down in the 3800 block of Texoma Parkway. The male was arrested for an outstanding city of Denison and Grayson County warrants, for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces, and for public intoxication.


Burglary — A victim stated on Jan. 23 that an unknown suspect entered her building in the 4800 block of SH 91 North by removing a hasp. Several food items were taken from a freezer.


Harassment — A complainant in the 600 block of Haven Circle stated on Jan. 23 that a neighbor is constantly harassing her by yelling and cursing at her and making false accusations against her.


Burglary — A victim stated on Jan. 23 that someone entered his residence in the 2200 block of South Woodlawn by shattering a door glass. A .32-caliber handgun, cash, a television and some medications were taken.


Traffic stop — A vehicle was stopped on Jan. 24 for a traffic violation in the 1900 block of South Mirik. The driver was arrested for no operator’s license.


Disturbance — Officers responded on Jan. 24 to a local call center in the 2400 block of South Austin after receiving a call of a former employee causing a disturbance. The subject was arrested for public intoxication.


Assault — A complainant advised on Jan. 24 that her juvenile relative was assaulted in a class at Denison High School, by being struck with a closed fist. The complainant was referred to Municipal Court.


Traffic stop — A vehicle was stopped on Jan. 24 for a traffic violation at Main Street and Crockett Street. A subject was arrested for outstanding Grayson County warrants and failure to identify/fugitive from justice.


Sherman Police


Theft — An officer made telephone contact on Jan. 24 with a female complainant in reference to a theft. A suspect removed the taillights from the rear of the complainant’s vehicle. The vehicle is a silver two-door 2002 Ford F150. At the time the incident occurred, the vehicle was parked in the driveway of the complainant’s residence in the 1800 block of West Scott Street. A report for theft was generated.


Found property — Sherman Police Dispatch received a call on Jan. 24 in reference to property being found in the roadway in the 1100 block of West Taylor Street. Upon the officers’ arrival, the caller advised that he found two vehicle license plates in the roadway. A found property report was generated.


Found property — A social security card was turned into the lobby of Sherman Police Department on Jan. 24 that was found in the street. The social security card was placed into evidence for safekeeping.


Failure to identify — Sherman PD officers were dispatched on Jan. 24 to the area of the 800 block of Pecan Street and Willow Street in reference to suspicious activity. An officer arrived in the area of the 1100 Block of East Pecan, and located an adult male. The adult male was later found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Upon further investigation, it was learned the adult male had falsely identified himself and had an active warrant. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to identify/fugitive intent to give false information, and the active warrant.


Driving while intoxicated — Sherman Police Department received a call on Jan. 24 in reference to a male standing outside of a vehicle, which had been wrecked. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the male, who was under the influence of prescription medication. He failed all sobriety testing and was arrested for driving while intoxicated.


Burglary — An officer made telephone contact on Jan. 25 with a female complainant in regards to a burglary of a vehicle. A suspect gained entry into the complainant’s unlocked vehicle. At the time the incident occurred, the driver’s side door of the vehicle had been left unlocked and parked in the driveway of the residence in the 3400 block of South Dakota. Once inside the vehicle, the complainant’s wallet and contents were removed. A report for burglary of a vehicle was generated.


Burglary — An officer made contact on Jan. 25 with a male complainant in the lobby of the Sherman Police Department in reference to a burglary of a vehicle. A suspect entered the complainant’s vehicle while it was parked in a parking lot in the 700 block of West Lamar. At the time the incident occurred, it was believed the vehicle had been mistakenly left unlocked. Once inside the unlocked vehicle, the suspect removed a backpack, which contained a .32-caliber pistol. A report for a burglary of a vehicle was generated.


Theft — An officer spoke with a male on Jan. 25 at a business on Motors Drive. The male said an office manager at the business stole cash from the business. A report was generated for theft of property $100 to $750.


Assault — An officer was dispatched on Jan. 25 to the 3600 block of Steeple Chase Drive, in regards to a possible assault. Upon arrival the officer spoke with all involved parties and determined an assault by contact occurred. A report was generated.
