Sherman Police


Theft — A victim reported to the Sherman Police on Jan. 21 that his vehicle had been stolen. The victim was trying to sell the vehicle and had left it in a business lot in the 1000 block of North Travis. An offense report was completed.


Burglary — An officer was dispatched on Jan. 21 to the 1600 block of East Lamar Street in regards to a possible theft. Upon arrival, the officer was informed by another agency that they were out with a vehicle that was possibly stolen from this location. After a thorough investigation, it was determined a theft of property $2,500 to $30,000 and burglary of a building occurred. A report for both was generated.


Criminal mischief — Officers were dispatched on Jan. 21 to a business in the 1500 block of Texoma Parkway in reference to criminal mischief. Officers spoke with the victim, who advised three suspects vandalized the room, and left the property without paying for the damages. A report for criminal mischief was generated.


Theft — A victim reported to the Sherman Police on Jan. 21 that his vehicle had been stolen. The victim was trying to sell the vehicle and had left it in a business lot in the 1000 block of North Travis. An offense report was completed.


Found property — A male entered the Sherman Police Department lobby on Jan. 21 with an Apple iPad that he had found. The male stated that he found the iPad near Highway 56 and FM 1417. Officers took possession of the iPad, and attempted to locate the owner. The iPad has been placed into evidence, and will be released when claimed by the owner.


Fraud — An officer spoke with a male and female in the lobby of the Sherman Police Department on Jan. 21. The male and female advised that someone used their bank account information to pay for a phone bill and an electricity bill. A report was generated for fraudulent use/possession of more than five identifying information items.


Theft — A male entered the Sherman Police Department front lobby on Jan. 21 to claim that someone stole his mail from his mailbox located in the 2000 block of West Washington Street. The male claimed that a Target gift card and a check were taken from his mailbox. A report was generated, and the investigation is ongoing.


Assault — A citizen reported on Jan. 21 that a large fight happened in the 1400 block of South Travis Street. Police responded and found a victim with obvious injuries. The other participants fled into a nearby residence. The owner of the residence refused to cooperate with the investigation. A report was taken for an assault causing bodily injury.


Driving while license invalid — An officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Jan. 21 in the 1600 block of South Travis Street. A traffic stop was initiated in the 100 block of East Forest Street. The driver had a suspended license and no proof of financial responsibility. A report was generated.


Assault — Sherman Police Department dispatch received a call on Jan. 21 in reference to an assault in the 900 block of Lee Avenue. The victim stated that she was assaulted by her boyfriend. The victim had visible injuries on her face. The suspect was arrested for assault causing bodily injury to a family member.


Assault — Sherman Police dispatch received a call on Jan. 21 from the 300 block of Archer Drive in reference to an assault that occurred at 2700 South Travis Street. A subject received minor injuries. An assault causing bodily injury report was generated.


Unlawful carrying of weapon — Sherman Police Department dispatch received a call on Jan. 22 in reference to an intoxicated driver in the 200 block of South U.S. Highway 75. The suspect was eventually stopped in the 1900 block of West U.S. Highway 82. The suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated and unlawful carrying of a weapon after an investigation was conducted.


Theft — An officer spoke with a male in the lobby of the Sherman Police Department on Jan. 22. The male stated that someone stole a gun from him during the nighttime hours at his residence in the 500 block of North East Street. A report was generated for theft of a firearm.


Public intoxication — Officers were dispatched on Jan. 22 to the 3000 block of Northridge Drive in reference to an intoxicated male knocking on residents’ doors. Officers located the suspect. He would not give his proper name, and said he only lived in Sherman. He was determined to be intoxicated, and was arrested for public intoxication and failure to identify. He was transported to the Grayson County Jail and booked.


Burglary — Sherman dispatch received a call on Jan. 22 from a female located in the 1100 block of East Houston Street. The caller wanted to report that her vehicle had been broken into. Officers were dispatched to the scene, and conducted an investigation. A report was taken for burglary of a vehicle.


Possession of marijuana — An officer conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 22 in the 2500 block of North Highway 75. During the course of his investigation, he searched the vehicle and located over four ounces of marijuana. He arrested the person who was in possession for possession of marijuana four ounces to five pounds.


Driving while intoxicated — A traffic stop was made on Jan. 23 in the 100 block of South First Street. The driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated and an open alcohol container.
