Denison Police


Traffic stop — Officers stopped a vehicle on Jan. 18 for a traffic violation in the 1900 block of South Mirick. While speaking with the driver, a suspect drove off in the vehicle. Officers lost sight of the vehicle. The suspect struck another vehicle at Morton and Rusk, and fled on foot. He was captured and arrested in the 100 block of East Bond Street. The suspect was arrested for evading arrest or detention using a vehicle, evading arrest or detention (on foot), failure to identify/fugitive from justice, reckless driving, accident involving damage to a vehicle greater than $200, outstanding city of Denison warrants and outstanding Grayson County warrants.


Warrant service — Officers responded to the 100 block of East Prospect on Jan. 18 to serve an outstanding parole violation warrant. The suspect was arrested for the warrant and also charged with failure to identify/fugitive from justice after giving a fictitious name.


Burglary — A complainant stated on Jan. 18 that someone entered a building that is being remodeled and removed a Dremmel tool and several spools of copper wire. The department will be following up on leads.


Forgery — A complainant stated on Jan. 18 that someone altered a check that had been written to pay a bill to a local company, and it was cashed at a different business. The investigation will continue.


Sherman Police


Driving while license invalid — An officer initiated a traffic stop on Jan. 19 in the 1000 block of East Epstein Street. The officer contacted the driver who identified himself by Texas Drivers license. Dispatch relayed that the driver’s license was currently suspended, and he had a previous conviction for driving while license invalid. The driver was arrested for driving while license invalid with previous convictions without financial responsibility, and transported to Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.


Burglary — Sherman Police dispatch received a call on Jan. 19 about suspects possibly siphoning gas from a vehicle in the 1200 block of West Taylor Street. An officer was dispatched to the location and located the suspect inside the suspect vehicle described by the caller. While speaking to the suspect, the smell of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and drug paraphernalia was located, along with several stolen items. The suspect was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and a report for burglary of a vehicle was generated.


No drivers license — Sherman Police responded to a call on Jan. 19 of a disturbance in the 1700 block of North Travis Street. Officers responded, and located two males involved in a verbal disturbance next to their vehicles while in the roadway. One suspect was arrested for driving without a license and failure to maintain financial responsibility. A report was generated for these offenses.


Unlawful carrying of a weapon — An officer was dispatched on Jan. 19 to the 1700 block of North Travis Street in reference to a disturbance. One of the persons involved possessed a firearm in violation of the law. A report was completed.


Theft — Sherman Police dispatch received a call of a theft on Jan. 19 in the 400 block of East U.S. Hwy 82. Upon officers’ arrival, a loss prevention employee had a female detained for theft over $100. After further investigation, the female was arrested, and taken to Grayson County Jail. A theft report was generated.
