Sherman Police


Burglary — A citizen reported on Jan. 17 that money was stolen from her residence in the 3700 block of Loy Lake Road. A report was taken for burglary of habitation.


Possession of drug paraphernalia — An officer was dispatched on Jan. 17 to a business in the 3600 block of South U.S. Highway 75. A subject there claimed that her stolen property was in another motel room. It was learned that the caller had lied about making a report with Denison PD about her property being stolen. At the request of hotel staff, officers made entry into the room that was claimed to contain the stolen property. In plain view was a glass pipe with residue. A report for drug paraphernalia was completed.


Theft — An officer made telephone contact on Jan. 17 with a man about a theft. The reporting party said a white man entered the store located in the 2000 block of Texoma Parkway on Jan. 16. Once inside the store, the man selected one pair of men’s athletic shoes. The man then concealed the shoes inside the coat he was wearing. Once the merchandise was concealed, the man left the store without paying for the merchandise he had selected. A report for theft was generated.


Fraud — Sherman Police Department dispatched an officer on Jan. 17 to the 300 block of South Travis Street in reference to fraud. Upon arrival, it was found that unknown people had stolen the victim’s debit card number, and made fraudulent withdraws from his bank account. A report was made for fraudulent use or possession of identifying information items. The investigation is on going.


Theft — An officer was dispatched on Jan. 17 to a business in the 1900 block of Grand Avenue in reference to a theft. The suspect had fled before police notification. The suspect was known and had two previous convictions for theft of property on his criminal history. A report for theft of property less than $2,500 with 2 more previous convictions was completed.


Credit or debit card abuse — An officer made telephone contact on Jan. 17 with a woman in reference to credit or debit card abuse. While reviewing her online bank account on Jan. 17, the woman noticed her Landmark Bank debit card had been used in Plano without her authorization or consent. At the time of filing this report, the woman was still in possession of her debit card. It was unknown as to how the unknown suspect obtained her debit card number. A report for credit or debit card abuse was generated.


Found property — A person found a blank check in a parking lot located in the 1800 block of North Loy Lake Road on Jan. 17. The person retrieved the check and attempted to locate the rightful owner, but was unsuccessful. The woman subsequently brought the blank check to the Sherman Police Department, where it was turned in. A report for found property was generated.


Driving while intoxicated — Sherman Police Department dispatched officers on Jan. 17 to an intoxicated driver. The caller followed the suspect vehicle, and told dispatch of where the vehicle was going and the described the driver’s behavior. The vehicle stopped in the roadway on Freeman Street at Maple Street and officers located it there. The investigation revealed that the driver was intoxicated and had previous convictions. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated with two or more convictions.


Assault — Sherman Police Dispatch received a call on Jan. 17 about a disturbance in the 1100 block of South Rusk Street. An officer was dispatched to the scene. An assault with minor apparent injuries was reported. An assault causing bodily injury report was generated.


Theft — Two individuals arrived at the Sherman Police Department on Jan. 17 and reported a possible theft. An officer was dispatched to the lobby. An investigation was conducted and a theft of property $100 to $750 report was generated.


Failure to identify — Sherman officers conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 17 on a vehicle in the 2200 block of Texoma Parkway. The vehicle showed to have unconfirmed insurance. The vehicle was occupied by three men and the driver was given a citation. It was later found that the driver was wanted and gave a false name. A report was generated for failure to identify a fugitive/intent to give false information.


Driving while intoxicated — Officers conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 18 in the 3600 block of Texoma Parkway. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
