The Sherman Planning and Zoning Commission will consider plans for two separate liquor stores being planned for Sherman. The commission’s meeting will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of City Hall, 220 W. Mulberry St.

In November, Sherman voters made all alcohol sales legal in the city limits during a local option election, which opened the door for a liquor store to begin operations in the city.

The first store to be considered by the commission would be located at 724 E. Highway 82, which is the southeast corner of that road’s intersection with U.S. Highway 75, and owned by Douglass Distributing. The owner is seeking a specific use permit to allow the liquor store at that location and site plan approval for the store.

The other proposed liquor store would be at 1922 N. Grand Avenue in the Jamestown Plaza Shopping Center. The applicant, Grand Kera Inc., is seeking a specific use permit and site plan approval for the planned store.

A specific use permit and site plan approval are also being sought for a solar energy facility in the 900-2000 blocks of West Moore Street. The proposed solar farm, which would be owned by SSCGC LLC, would contain a number of solar arrays mounted on a tracking system to allow them to follow the sun throughout the day. The power generated by the solar farm would be sold to Oncor to replace energy produced from a nonrenewable source.

Sapphire Group LLC will seek a specific use permit and site plan approval to allow truck repair, storage and rental office for Ryder Trucks at 4613 N. FM 1417.

The owners of a proposed auction house at 316 West Lamar St. will also be considered for a specific use permit and site plan approval.

The commission will also consider granting preliminary and final plat approval for the nine lot Oaks of Norwood residential development in the 3000-3100 blocks of West Lamberth Road and the 2200 block of Norwood Street.

Site plan approval will also be considered for Sherman ER, which will be 8,757-square-foot emergency room to be located at 2021 North Travis Street.
