A Sherman man was indicted this week on charges that he solicited a minor online. The indictment is a formal charge and is not an indication of guilt.

Carlos Colocho-Perez, 27, of Sherman was also indicted on a charge of criminal solicitation of a minor.

An affidavit used to get permission to search Colocho-Perez’s computer and other items showed that a Sherman police officer was conducting an undercover investigation on the internet when he happened upon an ad that seemed to come from the area. He exchanged texts with the person who placed the ad. During the exchanges, the police officer quoted a price for a sexual encounter with the person who placed the ad and the person said it was too much. Then the police officer replied, “Wut you mean, Im young and fresh so it costs more.”

The officer said the person he was communicating with replied that he was willing to pay $100 and the officer replied, “150 is my qwk rate guys pay extra cause im 16 and they like it young daddy’s girl.” The officer said the reply was “Okay is fine,” and “Where u at?”

The affidavit said that during the text and phone conversations, the person he was talking with sent photos of himself as well as a hotel sign and photos of the lobby and the hall leading up to the room.

The officer said that Colocho-Perez arrived at the prearranged hotel room at the appointed time. When a woman police officer answered the door and invited him inside, the officer said, Colocho-Perez reached out and grabbed her breasts. He was arrested.

Colocho-Perez is represented in the case by Sherman attorney Gaylon Riddles who did not immediately return the Herald Democrat’s call for a comment on the case.
