Assault — Officers were dispatched on Jan. 10 to the 3000 block of Steeplechase Drive in reference to an assault. The victim reported he had been assaulted by his girlfriend’s son. There was visible evidence indicating he had been assaulted. The suspect fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. A report was generated for assault causing bodily injury.
Burglary of building — An officer was dispatched on Jan. 10 to a burglary in the 1000 block of South Sam Rayburn Freeway. A business owner advised someone entered his business and stole tools. A report was generated for burglary of building. The case is under investigation.
Death investigation — An officer was dispatched on Jan. 10 to the 2000 block of Monte Cristo Way in reference to an unattended death. A report was generated for a death investigation.
Forgery financial instrument — An officer responded on Jan. 10 to a report of an individual attempting to pass a possibly forged check at a business in the 200 block of West Washington Avenue. The officer generated a report for forgery of a financial instrument.
Found property — Officers spoke with a female in the lobby of the Sherman Police Department on Jan. 10 who reported finding a wallet laying in the roadway. The wallet was turned over to officers. Attempts to contact the owner were unsuccessful. A report for found property was generated.
Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon — Sherman dispatch received a call on Jan. 10 in reference to an assault in the 3000 block of Steeple Chase Drive. The victim claimed a suspect attacked him with a knife. There were no injuries to the victim. Statements from witnesses at the scene conflicted with the victim’s statements. A report has been generated for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Burglary — A victim stated on Jan. 10 that he took his vehicle to a local auto repair shop for repairs. An employee with the business contacted the victim and advised him the vehicle had been burglarized. The victim stated a credit card, phone chargers, sunglasses and other items were missing from the vehicle. The credit card has been used several times locally at different businesses. The department will be following up on leads.
Theft — A complainant stated on Jan. 10 that a .25 caliber pistol was stolen from inside her residence sometime in December 2016. She named some possible suspects. The investigation will continue.
Arrest — Officers responded to a call on Jan. 10 about possible violation of a protective order. Suspect was arrested for outstanding city of Denison and Grayson County warrants.
Burglary — Officers responded to a call on Jan. 10 of two men burglarizing a house in the 700 block of East Crawford. The two suspects fled into a wooded area. A suspect was apprehended and arrested for burglary of a building and evading arrest/detention. The other suspect was not located. The investigation will continue.
