Theft, credit/debit card abuse — A victim on the 5000 block of South U.S. Hwy. 75 stated she dropped her purse on Jan. 4 going into a building. Building personnel later located the purse, but her money, credit and debit cards were missing. The unknown suspect used the cards to make purchases at local businesses. The investigation will continue.

Theft — Store personnel on the 400 block of North U.S. Hwy. 75 stated a male suspect left the store on Jan. 4 with merchandise and exited through an emergency exit, causing an alarm to be activated.

Driving while intoxicated — Officers responded to a two vehicle accident on Jan. 4 on the 1100 block of South Mirick. A suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated, second offense, and possession of marijuana less than two ounces.

Driving while license invalid — A vehicle was stopped at the Woodard and Austin intersection on Jan. 4 for a traffic violation. A suspect was arrested for driving while license invalid/enhanced.

Theft — Complainant claims someone entered her residence on Jan. 5 on the 900 block of Leeper Drive through the back door and took some money, jewelry and medications.

Counterfeit currency — Store personnel on the 100 block of U.S. Hwy 69 stated on Jan. 5 an unknown individual passed a $20 bill in the store that was counterfeit.

Harassment — Complainant stated on Jan. 5 she is receiving harassing emails from a male she knows, over a past relationship. The investigation will continue.

Possession of drug paraphernalia — Vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation on Jan. 5 in the 4400 block of U.S. Hwy. 75. Suspects were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and for an outstanding Ellis County warrant.

Sherman Police

Credit card abuse — Sherman Police received a forwarded police report on Jan. 3 from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office in Florida that advised a victim in Stuar, Florida, reported his credit card information had been stolen and used in Sherman. Police obtained video surveillance footage of the suspects using the stolen credit card numbers at a local business. The investigation is ongoing.

Criminal mischief — Sherman dispatch received a report on Jan. 4 of graffiti at the intersection the 1200 block of North Travis Street and the 1100 block of North U.S. Highway 75. The officer completed a report for criminal mischief.

Driving while license invalid — Officers made a traffic stop on Jan. 4 and the driver did not have a valid license or insurance on the vehicle. The driver was issued a citation for no proof of financial responsibility. A report was filed for driving while license invalid without financial responsibility.

Burglary of building — Sherman dispatch received a call on Jan. 5 regarding a burglary of a building in the 600 block of East Cherry Street. The victim advised tools were stolen from inside of his building. A report for burglary of a building was generated.

Criminal mischief — Officers were dispatched to a disturbance on Jan. 5 in the 1700 block of River Oak Circle. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a mailbox was struck by a vehicle. An investigation was conducted and a report was generated for criminal mischief.

Aggravated robbery — Dispatch received a call on Jan. 5 about a robbery in the 4800 block of Highgrove. The caller stated a male came into his home, pointed a gun at him and stole several items. The suspect fled in a vehicle in an unknown direction. A report for robbery was completed and the investigation is ongoing.

Assault causing bodily injury — Officers were dispatched on Jan. 5 to the 4900 block of Hilre Drive in regards to a disturbance. An investigation was conducted and a report was generated for assault causing bodily injury to a family member.

Duty on striking unattended vehicle — Sherman dispatch received a call on Jan. 5 in reference to the caller’s vehicle being hit in the 3100 block of North Haven Drive. The caller stated that the vehicle backed into his truck and then drove off without exchanging information. A report has been generated for striking an unattended vehicle.
