New Lake Texoma drawdown schedule released

Monday afternoon, the US Army Corps of Engineers provided an update about its drawdown plan for Lake Texoma. As of 1 p.m. Monday, the mean sea level was 622.97 ft and the average inflow was 6,000 cubic feet per second.

The hydro release was 11,600 cubic feet person and the gates were at 33,400 cubic feet per second. the Total release was at 45,000 cubic feet per second.

These elements and others are monitored by the Tulsa District Hydrology team.

“With the pool continuing to drop the plan is to begin decreasing releases starting tomorrow (Tuesday), see planned gate change schedule below,” the release said.

Tuesday, the two gate changes will allow for a decrease to 30,000 cfs total and Thursday, the two gate changes will decrease to 20,000 cfs total.

There will be one gate change on Tuesday, July 1. The conduit gates will be closed and only hydropower will remain open to have a decrease of 12,500 cfs.

The timing of the final gate change may be moved depending on the pool elevation,” the release said.

The Army Corps also included information about the estimated drawdown schedule

“This schedule reflects gate changes mentioned above,” the release said. “Keep in mind that these are conservative estimates that include no more rain.”

These updates are provided to stakeholders to give information about the plans related to Lake Texoma and the Red River.
