More back-to-school events

As cities to the south head back to campus this week, local schools have given area families a little more time to prepare for the upcoming school year. And area organizations and groups are still helping students get back into the school swing.

Here are some back-to-school events set to take place in the next week:

East Main back-to-school

The Makewild Markets and Ray’s Mercantile will have bounce houses, balloon dome, a back-to-school photo booth, live music, a hat bar, educator discounts and more will be on site for the back-to-school bash. The event will be held from 11:20-4 p.m. Aug. 10.

There will also be a tax-free shopping event.

B2S Scavenger bash at Moon Markets

A back-to-school bash will be held Friday at the Green Growler in Denison. The event from 5-9 p.m. will include a waterslide, vendors, free haircuts, food trucks, face painting, drawings, snow cones and a bounce house.

Free school supplies including backpacks will be given out.

The Green Growler is located at 101 E. Main Street in Denison.

Forest Avenue back-to-school bash

Forest Avenue Baptist will host a back-to-school bash from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the church located at 106 W. Forest Avenue in Sherman. There will be four hairstylists on site.

Registration will take place at the front on Forest Avenue. Free socks and underwear will be given out. Movie and popcorn will be available along with AC in the sanctuary while families wait.

Back-to-school with Mt Zion

A back to school party will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Denison.

The event is expected to include music, food, drinks, games and school supplies. The event will be held at 530 W. Walker in Denison.

Splash Bash redo

The Splash Bash at Central Social District that was originally scheduled for earlier in the summer, will be held Aug. 15. The event will be held from 5-8 p.m. and will include a water slide, zip Line, train rides, vendors and food trucks.

Individuals can bring sunscreen and a towel.

Central Social District is located at 215 E. Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne.
