Lake Athens is known for some really good largemouth bass. But as Rob Woodruff showed a couple of springs ago, it also has some pretty good bluegills and redear sunfish, or shellcrackers, as many anglers call them. That includes this nice redear, a panfish that would have been a lake fly rod record had the author been smart enough to read the TPWD website before the trip began.
