For those looking for something to do in North Texas this weekend, there are a variety of activities that will be bringing people outdoors Friday through Sunday. Some a dog party to a fossil-finding program, to a theater event and a few shows, here are five events to keep the weekend moving.
1. Swimming doggie style
The final swim at The Splash Family Aquatic Center in Sherman will be this weekend. This event is just for the dog though. The Soggie Doggie Pool Pawty will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. All vaccinated dogs can swim for the $5 entry fee. Owners must bring their pet’s current shot records.
2. Fossil discovery
Saturday at Eisenhower State Park in Denison, area residents and guests will have the opportunity to learn about fossils and which types of animals previously lived in the Texoma region. The program “Fossils, A Journey into the Past!” will begin at 2 p.m. The program is free with paid park admission.
3. Dessert, Art and Wine
An evening of theater, dessert and wine will take place at the Creative Arts Center in Bonham Friday evening. The event, “Dessert Readers Theater and Wine Down” will begin at 7 p.m. The event is free. Patrons are asked for a donation. The play to be read, “The Magnificent Seven - Short in Stature, Long in Dreams.”
4. Feeding the Machine tour
Nickel back will be in Texoma this weekend. The Canadian rock band will be performing Saturday at Choctaw Casino and Resort in Durant, Oklahoma. The show begins at 8 p.m. and the doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.Ticketmaster.com.
5. Traveling show
The touring group of Fiddler on the Roof will be at Music Hall at Fair Park this weekend. The musical shows at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Ticket prices range from $30-95. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.Ticketmaster.com.
