As area children and parents prepare for back-to-school time, the community is also jumping into gear. This weekend in Texoma, there will be an end-of-summer party, a back to school event and a fundraiser for the local community theater. This weekend, there will also be a popsicle event and a watermelon festival. Here are five events for get people ready for back-to-school time.
1. End-of-the-summer party
The End of the Summer Reading Extravaganza at the Sherman Public Library will be this weekend. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be free hot dogs and snow cones, bounce houses and more. Prizies will be given out for individuals who participated in the reading program. 2. Preparing for back to school
A back to school bash will be held this weekend at 900 E. Pecan Grove in Sherman. There will be free school supplies, free haircuts, and free food. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be entertainment throughout the day and the only thing people need to bring is their children.
3. Popsicles for all
For the month of August, Denison Parks and Recreation will be meeting area residents and guests at area parks for popsicles. Friday, the department will be at Forest Park from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be free popsicles and games available.

5. Watermelons for all
The second Watermelon Festival will be held this weekend in Dallas. The Dallas Farmer’s Market Weekwill begin with the festival at 9 a.m. Saturday.
