This weekend will be warm and sunny in Texoma and there are plenty of outdoor events for families to look forward to. Denison’s annual Doc Holliday: Saints and Sinners Festival will be this weekend. On Lake Texoma, the Texoma Sailing Club will be putting on its annual regatta. Sherman will be hosting a touch-a-truck while Muenster will be hosting its version of Germanfest. Also this weekend, Fannin County will be putting on its annual Relay for Life fundraiser. Here are five events to get people outdoors.
1. For the saints and sinners
The fourth edition of the Doc Holliday: Saints and Sinners Festival will be held this weekend in Denison. The downtown festival starts at 9 a.m. and will include vendors, re-enactors, a parade, wagon rides and more. A Doc Holliday-themed play will be shown at the Rialto Theater in Denison. 2. 31st sailing event
The annual spring regatta will be held this weekend on Lake Texoma. The event will also include social events for sailors and event attendees. There are multiple competition divisions and different types of fleets. For more information on race day, visit http://www.TexomaSailingClub.com.
Police vehicles, trash trucks, fire engines and a helicopter will be parked at Pecan Grove West in Sherman this weekend for Sherman Parks and Recreation’s touch-a-truck event. The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For more information on the event, call 903-893-7344.
4. German Fest
The 43rd installment of the Germanfest in Muenster will be held this weekend. The event begins at noon Friday and will continue through Sunday. There will be German sausage, apple strudel, cheese, homemade bread and more. Activities include a 5K, 15K and fun run; a bike rally; a rib cook off; and other competitions. 5. Paint the county purple
It is time for Relay for Life in Fannin County. This year’s event will be held from 1:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the Fannin County Milt-Purpose Complex in Bonham. In preparation of this weekend’s event, area residents and businesses have placed purple decorations around the county.
