Herald Democrat seeks Easter schedules from area churches


SHERMAN — The Herald Democrat is seeking schedules for services and other activities at area churches during Easter weekend, April 19-21.


Submissions should be emailed to religion@heralddemocrat.com. The deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday.


St. John CME Church announces food pantry ministry


SHERMAN — St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will operate its food pantry from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays.


The offering to the community is based on Matthew 25:35.

Alpha & Omega Community Baptist Church holds pastor’s aid program


DENISON — Alpha & Omega Community Baptist Church will celebrate its pastor’s aid program at 3 p.m. Sunday.


Pastor Jerry Dehorney and the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church will be special guests.


Choirs and soloists are invited to render selections.

Westwood Village Church of Christ holds special services


SHERMAN — Westwood Village Church of Christ will hold gospel meetings at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday; and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.


The church’s new preacher, Ronald Stringer, will deliver the message.

Denison churches put on revival


DENISON — God’s House of Faith & Worship Center and Trinity Lighthouse Church will host their annual spring revival at 7 p.m. April 10-12.


Wednesday services will be held at Trinity Lighthouse Church, 2915 Spur 503 in Denison.


Thursday and Friday services will be held at the House of Faith & Worship Center, 320 N. Travis Ave. at Sears in Denison.


Services will be conducted by Apostle Tweedy Thomas, pastor and founder of the God Is Ministries in Desoto. She serves as one of the ritual advisers for the Black Academy of Arts & Letters Inc. in Dallas and oversees the Kingdom Connection Fellowship of Churches in Desoto.


As an international evangelist, Thomas has spread the gospel in Eldora Park and surrounding areas of South Africa, Canada and to the Native Americans of White River Arizona.


New Birth Cathedral of Praise celebrates family and friends day


SHERMAN — New Birth Cathedral of Praise will celebrate its family and friends day at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.


Guest speaker will be the Rev. Curtis Pruitt of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church of Commerce. The theme is based on 1 John 1:5-7.


Dinner will be served prior to the service.

Hungry for more Jesus sets Bible study


SHERMAN — Hungry for More of Jesus Bible Study group will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Golden Corral, 900 E. US Highway 82, Sherman, meeting room.


The study will be conducted by Pauline Jones of Sherman and will be on the power of prayer.
