This weekend in Texoma, there will be plenty of events for children and families to take part in. Whether you like rodeo-type competitions, jazz, nature or the circus, there is an event for you. The weekend will also see a fundraiser benefiting an area education foundation. Here are five events to invite your friends to.


1. Jazz Classic


The Sherman Jazz Classic will be held this weekend at sites in downtown Sherman. The weekend event will include performances all weekend long. At 7 p.m. on Friday, Three River Jazz featuring Victoria Cook will be performing at Old Iron Post. Saturday events include a free jazz clinic at the Sherman Jazz Museum and a concert at Kidd-Key Auditorium. A gospel brunch will then be held Sunday at Old Iron Post. 2. Nature drawing


Artist Walt Davis will be leading a workshop at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge this weekend. The local artist will be teaching students how to draw insects and other animals. 3. Putting education first


The Whitesboro Education Foundation will be putting on its spring fundraiser Saturday. The prime rib dinner will be held at 6 p.m. at the Cinderella’s Arena, 1433 Chisum Trail Rd., in Whitesboro. Jake Hooker and the Outsiders will be performing. Meal tickets must be purchased before the event, but individuals can purchase concert tickets at the door. 4. Buckle and play


The 2019 Buckle Playday Series at Circle J Cowboy Church in Collinsville will be held this weekend. The age divisions include lead line, pee wee, junior, intermediate, adult and senior. 5. Water circus


This weekend Cirque Italia will be doing six performances in Denton. The Italian water circus will feature a 35,000-gallon water stage in a show titled, “Aquatic Spectacular.” The shows will be Friday through Sunday at North Texas Fair and Rodeo, 2217 N.
