The Herald Democrat is seeking scheduling information for Holy Week and Easter Weekend from local churches.


The deadline for scheduling announcements for Holy Week, April 14-19, is 5 p.m. Tuesday and the deadline for information pertaining to Easter weekend, April 20-21, is 5 p.m. April 9.

Progressive Missionary Baptist Church hosts mission Sunday and spring revival


SHERMAN — The Mission Society of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church will host its Mission Sunday service at 11 a.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be Carolyn Phelps.


The church will hold its spring revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The theme is “Responding to the call to serve” from Isiah 6:8.


The following speakers will be featured: Monday, Pastor Jimmy Bogan; Tuesday, Pastor Alton Blakely; Wednesday, Pastor Craig Ewing; Thursday, Pastor James Wilson; and Friday, the Rev. Montrell Blakley.


Progressive Missionary Baptist Church is located at 1101 E. Houston St. in Sherman.


Quinn Chapel AME holds fifth Sunday mission program


DENISON — Quinn Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church will hold its fifth Sunday mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday.


The theme is “Fruits of the Spirit,” from Galatians 5:22.


Program participants are members of area churches.


The church is located at 710 W. Elm St. in Denison.


Collinsville Bible Baptist Church hosts trumpeter at special services


COLLINSVILLE — Collinsville Baptist Church will hold special services at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Longtime trumpeter for the Gaither Band, Paul Terrell, will perform.


The theme for Friday’s service is “The trump shall resound,” with Terrell playing the trumpet as the congregation sings, “It is Well with my Soul.” Additional songs will be performed.


Saturday’s theme will be “God and country” with area military, veterans, law enforcement officers and firefighters being honored. Both stanzas of “The Star Spangled Banner” will be sung. Additional songs will include “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “God of our Fathers.”


Songs both nights will be accompanied by Terrell and professional pianist Julie Smith. Terrell will speak at each service.


Admission is free and an offering will be taken each night.

Temple of Hope, Faith and Grace holds 5th Sunday service, spring revival


SHERMAN — Temple of Hope, Faith and Grace will hold its Mission Ministry fifth Sunday service at 4 p.m. Sunday.


The theme is “Moving forward” from Philippians 3:14.


Guest speaker will be Vickie Rain Ministries Founder Victoria Rainbolt.


The church will also hold its spring revival at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The theme is “Faith” based on Proverbs 3:5-6.


Guest speaker will be Prophet Savella Greer Sr. of Unique Deliverance Tabernacle in McKinney.

Bethel Baptist Church hosts singer


HOWE — Bethel Baptist Church will feature the singing of former church member Lou Anne (Mahana) Quick at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday.

St. John CME Church presents annual program


SHERMAN — The Missionary Society of St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will hold its annual program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The theme will be “Steadfast and faithful women: celebrating women of the past, present and future.”


Guest speaker will be Evangelist Missionary Altha “Faye” Fugett and the Second Chance Ministry Praise and Worship Team. Fugett and Second Chance Jail and Prison Ministry Team minister to prisons throughout Texas.

Latter Rain COGIC to host community health fair


SHERMAN — Latter Rain Church of God in Christ will host a community health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 6.


It is a free event designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, prevent and manage disease and connect persons to resources. Free first aid kits will be given while supplies last.


The fair offers health screenings and consultation including blood glucose, blood pressure, weight and body mass, nutritional support, and eye screenings.

Seed of Harvest Ministries hosts healing service


SHERMAN — Seed of Harvest Ministries of Jacksonville, Florida will hold a one-day healing service from 2-4:30 p.m. Saturday at Hilltop Village, 4919 Timberview Dr., Sherman.
