With the hope of making an impact on Texoma youth, the Texas Youth Fest will be back at the Texoma Event Center at the Hilton Garden Inn in Denison for the second time. The event to be held from 7-10 p.m. Nov. 16 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 17 will bring in musicians and national guests.

Dove award winner, Ryan Stevenson, will perform hit songs including, “In the Eye of the Storm,” “The Gospel,” “Lift You Up,” and “No Matter What.” Stevenson will be taking a break from his tour with Toby Mac to be in Texoma for the festival.

“We believe this is going to be an impactful event on a couple of different levels,” Missionary Baptist Church pastor and event organizer Joshua Jackson said in an email. “Not only will all of the attendees get to come and have a great time worshiping, singing, and laughing; but an event with this level of talent coming to the Sherman/Denison area is almost unprecedented. Not only do we want everyone that comes to have a great time, but we also want this to be good for the community.”

Texas native, Micah Tyler will also take stage with hits including “Different,” “Never Been a Moment,” and “Even Then.” Tyler is currently on tour with MercyMe.

The reach for the event has been widespread with tickets being sold in four states.

“Being just in our 2nd year, we would be happy with just doubling our attendance from last year, but our goal is to sell 1,000 tickets,” Jackson’s email said.

Comedy group “321 Improv” will also be a the event. Joey Cook of Conway, Arkansas will be the speaker.

About 400 tickets were sold for the 2017 installment of the festival.

“When you think of church, you might think of the old stand-by hymns that we sing, but this is different,” Mt. Pleasant pianist and festival organizer Kimberly Bowen said in 2017 of that year’s event. “This is Christian rock music and entertainment that appeals to the younger generations. It’s on their level, it’s high energy and it’s what they relate to.”

Bowen also said the church wants to focus specifically on the youth for the festival because youth see a lot of social pressure. She said that it is important to have an event that is reaching out to the future of the community so that the youth know that there is brightness in the world.

“Feedback from last year’s event was all positive,” Jackson said. “Most who came couldn’t believe it was just in its first year. One thing that we are doing different this year is incorporating food trucks with the event. We will have 3 food trucks will be parked at the event center for everyone to enjoy.”

The Hilton Garden Inn is located at 5015 South U.S. Highway 75 in Denison. It is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Highway 75 and SH 691.
