Fall is in full swing in Texoma this weekend and weather willing the days will be packed with activities for area residents and visitors. The Sherman Community Players are kicking off their 70th season this weekend. Van Alstyne is having its annual fall festival and Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas will also be having a festival. Locations around Denison will be celebrating the birthday of Dwight Eisenhower throughout the day Saturday and Frontier Village and Museum will be telling ghost stories that evening. Here are five activities to get you in the seasonal spirit.


1. Season opener


The Sherman Community Players are opening their season this weekend with the show “Little Shop of Horrors.” The play is only showing for two weekends at the Finley Theater. The show will play at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays until Oct. 21. It will also show at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18-19. Tickets can be purchased at the box office or at scptheater.org. 2. Fall for all


Visit downtown Van Alstyne Saturday for the city’s annual “Fall der All” festival. A scarecrow parade will be traveling down Preston Street at 10 a.m. In downtown, there will be a kids zone with bounce houses and games. There will also be an open mic session. People will be playing corn hole and Jenga. A car show and Tae Kwon Do demonstrations will take place on the two live music stages. 3. Spooky spirits


This weekend, Frontier Village and Museum at Loy Lake will be having ghost tours for individuals wanting to know stories about some of the oldest homes in Grayson County. Admission is $5 for anyone over the age of 12. The tours start at 7 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 903-463-2487.


4. Party for Ike


On Saturday, the city of Denison will be celebrating the 128th birthday of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower. There will be a car show, a military vehicle display, birthday cake and a USO show at Eisenhower birthplace. At the Eisenhower monument at Loy Lake, new bricks will be dedicated and Merrill Eisenhower Atwater, great-grandson of Dwight Eisenhower, will speak. The Red River Railroad Museum and Perrin Air Force Base Museum will both be open Saturday for patrons to visit. For more information, visit www.DenisonLive.com.


5. Celebrating fall


Goodwill Industries will have a fall festival on Saturday at its Denison location. There will be games, candy and prizes. Food trucks will be on site. There will also be face painting and Women Rock will be providing information on breast cancer. Goodwill is located at 2419 S. Woodlawn Boulevard in Denison.
