It is festival season in North Texas. This weekend, the third annual Doc Holliday Festival will be held in downtown Denison and the 43rd Germanfest will be held in Muenster. Also, this weekend is Fannin County’s Relay for Life event, a chili cook-off hosted by the Sherman Evening Lions Club and the Sherman Symphony’s spring concert. Here are five events for this weekend in North Texas.

1. Saints and Sinners

The 2018 Doc Holliday “Saints and Sinners” Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Park in Denison. There will be old west re-enactors, author events, historians, wagon rides, a petting zoo, a beard and mustache contest and more. 2. Chili for all

The Sherman Evening Lions Club will host a chili cook off benefiting Lion charities beginning Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Sherman Elks Lodge 2280, 1413 E. FM 1417, Sherman. Hoping to make the event annual, the cook off is open to interested participants to cook and judge the event. The entry fee is $25. Activities include a breakfast buffet from 8-10 a.m., which is $8. 3. Support cancer research

Relay For Life of Fannin County will be held from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex, 700 Texas 56, Bonham. The theme is movies. Saturday events will include an opening ceremony, a survivor and caregiver walk, and a luminaria and closing ceremony. For more information, visit

4. A 1888 composition

The Sherman Symphony’s spring concert will be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Kidd-Key Auditorium in Sherman. Tickets can be purchased at The symphony will be playing Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5.

5. Germanfest

The 43rd annual Germanfest will be held Friday through Sunday in Muenster. Hosted by the Muenster Chamber of Commerce, this event will include entertainment, a barbecue cook off, a fun run and bike rally. Admission is $8 Friday, $10 Saturday and $6 on Sunday.
