JULIA BELLE MULLINS

1939-2023

Julia Belle Mullins, age 83, of Sherman, went to be Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 16, 2023, at Texoma Medical Center, after a 1 month and 4 day valiant fight.

Julia was born May 7, 1939, in Crowder, Oklahoma to Alex and Verna (Eager) Monks. She was the middle of nine children.

Julia married Ervin Roger Mullins, June 6, 1964, in Sherman, Texas. She loved the Lord, her family and the many children she took care of after retirement from 38 years of teaching in Sherman Public Schools.

She received an Associates Degree from Eastern Oklahoma College in Wilburton, Oklahoma, a Bachelors and Masters Degree of Education from the University of Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant, Oklahoma.

She loved teaching and taught second grade at Jefferson Elementary School for 16 years and first grade at Fairview Elementary School for 21 years. She felt God placed each child in her classroom for a reason.

She is survived by her loving son, Steven Roger Mullins of Sherman; brother, Connie Monks of Norman, Oklahoma; sister, Anna McAdoo of Crowder, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Ervin Roger Mullins, who passed away in 2005; daughter, Cindee Ann Mullins, who passed away in 1993; sisters, Jewel Dean Jennings of Eufaula, Oklahoma, Otha Mae Ott of McAlester, Oklahoma, Wanda Faye Hooks of McAlester, Oklahoma, Ruth Abrahamsen of Canadian, Oklahoma; brothers, Donnie Monks of McAlester, Oklahoma and William Eager Monks of Crowder, Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation and memories from 6 to 7 pm, Monday, March 20th at Waldo Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, March 21st, in the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Pastor Nathan Cain of Harvest Time Assembly of God will officiate, and Vocalist Theresa Howery will deliver the musical message. Musical selections will be I’ll Fly Away, When We All Get To Heaven and I Can Only Imagine.

Pallbearers will be Chris Miller, Trevor Miller, Shawn Wegley, Phillip Daniel, Bobby Howery and Larry Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Abrahamsen, Leslie McAdoo, Ken Hodges, Maverick Wegley, Bronx Johnson, Kenny Hancock, Coultyn Boatner, Lynn LeFlore, Ken Kemp and Brad Boatner.

Julia’s son Steven would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses for their love and support throughout this very trying, heartbreaking, and difficult time.
