John William Henson, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 25, 2022, in Denison, Texas.

John was born on December 20, 1936, in Denison, TX, to Welby Allen Henson and Linnie Shirley Montgomery Henson.

John attended Denison ISD. John served his country as a member of the United States Army stationed in Germany. John married Betty Frances Nix on June 10, 1967, in Denison, TX. John was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his home-grown vegetables with his family and friends. John also enjoyed fishing, taking care of his many animals, and spending time outdoors. He spent many years doing work in various Grayson County factories to provide for his family, retiring from ConAgra in the 1990s.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his father, and mother and his two sisters: Leola Bowles and Nancy Lowery John is survived by his son, John Henson, Jr (Melissa) of Denison, TX, his daughter, Lorrie Compton (Tony) of Colbert, OK, his son, Mark Henson (Gloria) of Georgetown, TX, and his daughter, Becky Manning (Wayne) of Denison, TX. John was also blessed with 9 grandchildren: Cody Henson, Mackenzie Cook, Joshua Montgomery, Ethan Henson, Mariah Swats, Matthew Sealy, Hunter Manning, Clarissa Henson, and Landon Manning. John was also blessed with 4 great grandchildren: Jackson, June and Oaklyn Montgomery, Henson Cook and a fifth great grandchild due in June 2023.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday evening, December 28, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Fisher Funeral Home in Denison, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Fisher Funeral Home. Ruben Henson of Sherman, Texas, will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Denison, Texas.
