Jerry Allen Wright passed away June 20, 2022. He was born in Sherman, Texas on January 25, 1955 to Allen Eugene Wright and Mary Ann Wright of Sherman, Texas. Jerry graduated from Sherman ISD and continued his education at Killeen Cadet School to be a police officer. He later worked on his masters at American University for criminal justice.
Jerry dedicated his life to law enforcement. He served on the police forces of Killeen, Victoria, Sherman, and Denison. While serving as a police officer and later as a private investigator, he earned several awards including Killeen Police Officer of the Year and Dedicated and Faithful Service Award from the Grayson County Attorney’s Office. He worked as a special investigator for CPS for several years.
Jerry is survived by his loving family; son, Smith Keller Wright of Fort Worth; sister, Terri Ann Short of Sherman; nephew Matthew Allen Short and grandnephew Hayden Allen Short of Sherman; niece Mary Beth Jones and her husband, Seth Allen Jones, of Denison. He was preceded in death by his loving parents.
Visitation will be at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas, on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 12-2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Graveside service will be at Friendship Cemetery in Sherman. He often said, “Wasn’t I blessed to be raised on Friendship Road. Just a country boy.”
