1932-2023
Jean passed away and went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She was surrounded by her family and caring hospice team. She was 90 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband James (December 6, 2017), her brother, Arnold and sister, Marilyn and parents.
She was recently from Pottsboro and Sherman, Texas. She was born on January 25, 1932, in Darlington, Wisconsin, to Leland Edgar Chambers and Clara Christina Leona Weber Chambers.
She was the oldest of their four children. She had a healthy respect for farming and animal husbandry, but determined early on she wasn’t meant to live a lifetime in that field. After graduating from high school in 1951, she went on to college and nursing school. She graduated from the school of nursing in 1954 and made a life long career of nearly 60 years in what she loved. She never met a stranger in the hospital or out of it and made numerous friends throughout her life. She enjoyed birding and anything nature related. Her favorite activity was to join friends for lunch and visit for hours.
Jean married James Robert Sterling on January 4, 1958, in Livingston, Wisconsin. They moved to Massachusetts before finally settling in Dallas, Texas.
Jean is survived by her son, James Eric Sterling (Hurst, TX), step-daughter, Elizabeth (Lisa) Ann Sterling Saal and husband Dana (Keller, TX) granddaughter Emily Michelle Saal Brand and husband Jared, great grandchildren Leia and Cohen Davis (Roanoke, TX), one brother, David Chambers (Darlington, WI), sister-in-law, Shirley Chambers (Arnold) and many, many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service and cremains interment will be scheduled in the spring.
If you wish to send a memorial, we recommend St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
