Hugo Sergio Alarcon died peacefully at the age of 91 in Sherman, TX on October 6, 2022. Hugo was a caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother who was passionate about his family and loved his friends dearly. He will be deeply missed.
Hugo was born in Santiago, Chile in 1931. When he arrived in the United States in the late 1950’s, he made his way to Chicago, Illinois where he met the love of his life, Gladys Alarcon. They married in 1964 and several years later they were blessed with two loving children. In 1982 the family moved to Plano, Texas. Eventually the family of four grew and was blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Of course, the blessings continued with the love of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family all of whom were very close to his heart.
During the early years in the United States, Hugo earned a living as a Quality Control Chemist for Pre-Finished Metals. Later he worked for Citgo Petroleum and started his own cleaning business.
Hugo is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Alarcon; his parents, Ramon Alarcon, Fresia Lobo, and stepmother Halima “Machita” Salinas; along with brothers, Ramon Alarcon, Miguel Alarcon, and sister Nina Salinas. He is survived by his brother Edwardo “Tuca” Salinas.
He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his son, Hugo Alarcon jr., and his wife, Danielle; his daughter, Halima Hames and her husband, David; his grandchildren Hayden Burns and her husband Brendan, Gabriela Hames, John Hames, Grace Hames, Zoe Hames, and Ava Alarcon; his great-grandchild Reagan Burns and Beckett Burns; and many other loving family members.
Celebration of life Service will be Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Faith Church of Sherman. Services begin at 11:00 a.m. Honorary Pallbearers will be David and John Hames, Mark and Simon Hunt, Rolando and Santiago Sanchez. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
