Helen Ruth Holder Jones, age 88, passed away June 8, 2023, at Beacon Hill in Denison, Texas. She was preceded in death by William (Bill), her beloved husband of 43 years; daughter Susan Booher; son-in-law Sam Donald; son David Jones; and shortly thereafter by greatgrandson Jasper Kennelley.
Born April 28, 1935, and raised in Waco, Texas, Helen lived in Georgia, California, Clarksville, Texas, and later Dallas, Texas, before settling in Sherman, Texas. She spent her adult life working as a bookkeeper for several local industries, the Texas Employment Commission, Johnson and Johnson, and Clifton & Jackson, CPA.
She learned to play the organ when she was young. She worked at an organ store, where she not only learned how to play an organ, but also how to play by ear. She would always try to play the piano or organ when she was attending church.
After retiring, she traveled across the country with Bill, was active in her community, and spent her days at home studying her Bible, painting, sewing, crocheting, and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys. She was a strong, Christian woman who loved the Lord, and was active in her church; teaching Sunday School, volunteering at the local food and clothing banks, and any other ministry that needed her.
Helen was loved by all who knew her. She leaves behind her children; David and Angela Dean, Paula and Mike Parker, Tony and Heather Dean, Rex and Glenda Booher, Terrell Jones, Richard and Jeannette Jones, Jodi Jones-Donald; 27 grandchildren, 43 greatgrandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and many beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Reverend Charles Leslie’s Mission to Uganda. https://www.missionglobalfellowship.org/
