George William Davis

The son of the late Warren Davis and Wilda (Willingham) Davis, George was born on July 27, 1942, in Ardmore, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully on June 3, 2022 in Denton, Texas surrounded by family at the age of 79 years old.

George grew up in Ardmore, Okla homa where his family owned the Davis Market and Grocery. George attended Ardmore High School and after graduation attended the University of Oklahoma and Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Southern Methodist University.

George had a passion for technology, audio visual and communications. George began his career managing several movie theatres in Oklahoma and Lubbock, Texas before pursuing a career as a Communications Consultant with Southwestern Bell Telephone. It was there George met the love of his life Patsy Ruth Davis. The two were married in 1970 and were side by side for 40 years. George and Pat moved to Denison, Texas in 1980 where they raised their son Greg Davis until 1998. After George retired from Southwestern Bell, George and Pat traded in their home for an RV and traveled the country for the next 5 years visiting over 20 states. After this adventure they moved to Denton, Texas where they lived the remainder of their days.

George and Pat loved the Lord and attended church regularly in Denison at Parkside Baptist Church and in Denton at Southmont Baptist Church.

George loved food and fellowship with family and friends. All who knew George described him as happy, vibrant, jovial, and always smiling. George never met a stranger and loved with all his heart. He was an exceptional father, grand-father, husband, and friend.

George is survived by his son, Gregory Warren Davis, his daughter-in-law Loretta Davis, his grandson Ethan Warren Davis, his cousin Jim Wineblood, his brother-in-law Jerry Boston, his nephew Robbie Boston, his niece Sarah Boston and his many friends that he called “family”.

Pallbearers will be: Robbie Boston, Stan Bartel, Jim Goins, Gary Barnett, Don Fields and Roger Cartwright

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ed Rider, Roger Rutherford, and Don Skipper

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, June 10, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, Ardmore, Oklahoma located at 225 1st Ave SW, Ardmore, OK 73401 with services officiated by Pastor Brad Cockrell of Southmont Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery located at 2525 C Street SE, Ardmore, OK 73402.
