Freddie B. Orr, Sr. began his time on this earth in White Rock, TX on December 5, 1934, born to Henry Orr and Edna Smith. He attended Fred Douglas High School and later earned his Associates Degree from Grayson County Junior College.
Freddie was an entrepreneur and held several jobs over the years, such as: BF Goodrich, Central Freight, Orr’s Grocery Store, Department of Air Force Civil Service, first at Perrin Field and then at Carswell AFB, Sales Rep for Founders’ Preferred Life Insurance, Firestone Tire Rubber Company, Part Owner of LaCraft Pontoon Boats and Sales rep, TAPS (Texoma Area Paratransit System) for 10 years and Board Chairman for one. After retirement, Freddie raised Black Angus cattle for several years.
He was a deacon and a member of Progressive Baptist Church for over 40 years, where he accepted his call to ministry and later founded Ecclesia Baptist Church in Denison, TX. He was also the President and Founder of the White Rock Community Cemetery Association.
On June 7, 2022, Freddie went home to be with his Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Edna Orr, siblings, Eddie Orr “Butter”, Joe Hardis Orr, and Lettie Orr Scruggs. He is survived by the love of his life, wife, Mrs. Hattie Orr, children, Freddie B. Orr, Jr. (Valerie), and Cynthia Crain (Tom), grandchildren, Christopher Orr (Claudia), James Orr (Katie), Terry Stanford, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Orr, and Jerry Stanford, 8 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, sister, Talmadge “Tam” Kemp and a host of relatives and friends.
Public viewing will take place on Thursday from 10am to 6pm followed by family night from 6pm to 8pm at Cravens Funeral Home. The Celebration of Freddie’s Life will be held at 11am on Friday June 17th at Progressive Baptist Church. The Orr family is under the personal care of the Cravens Funeral Home, 700 N.
