Ella Joyce (Hawkins) Gist of Sherman, Texas, passed away on September 23, 2022 at the age of 86.

Ella Gist was born on August 17, 1936 in Bonham, Texas. Ella Gist graduated from Sherman High School in 1954. Ella Gist was a member of the Catholic Church in Sherman, Texas.

Ella Gist is preceded in death by her parents Velma O. Gist and Thomas E. Gist and her son Joe Hawkins and brother, Billy Gist.

Ella Gist is survived by her son, John Hawkins (Cindy), daughter, Joy Hawkins, sister, Mary Nell Miller, brother, Mike Gist (Connie) of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Julie Gorsuch (Doug), Jessica Hawkins, Jon Scott Hawkins (Lisa), Megan Hawkins, Lindsey Hawkins and Hayley Hawkins.

Ella Gist donated her body to research at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. A private family service will be held on a future date at the family plot in Savoy, Texas.
