Ahead of Denison High School’s first home game this week, the Denison Independent School District has announced a stadium change that will put some Yellowjacket fans closer to each other this season. The Touch of Gold Marching Band, Stingerettes and Party Pit will be on the home side of the stadium this year.
The change may help Yellowjacket fans be closer to performers and help officials.
“Yellow Jacket Fans……we are excited to announce an important change coming to our varsity Yellow Jacket football games at Munson Stadium this season,” a news release said. “Effective with the first home game of the 2025 season, the Touch of Gold Marching Band, our Stingerettes, and our loud and proud Party Pit will move from the visitor stands to their new location in the home-side stands on the south end near the video board.”
This was not a spur-of-the-moment decision and has been years in the making.
“We have been considering this move for the past couple of seasons, primarily due to our band,” the release said. “On several occasions, they have not been allowed by game officials to play during game action. Prior to the start of the 2025 football season, District 4-5A Division II schools officially voted to have the Touch of Gold band moved to the home side of all home games. The band’s influence on the players, the game and the overall atmosphere of Friday night football is significant, so we are excited that our band will be able to play throughout the entirety of all games this season! We are also excited for the players and coaches to have these added pieces of the Yellow Jacket spirit directly behind them cheering them on all season!”
This decision will impact general admission seating.
“Moving the band, the Stingerettes, and the Party Pit (student section) to the home side south end general admission stands will occupy the majority of the seats in that section,” the release said. “Of course, the north end general admission seating will be fully available for general admission ticket holders, as always.
“We know that many of our general admission ticket holders have been sitting in the south end bleachers for many years, so we ask for your patience and understanding as we make this important change this season.”
The district release also said administration is excited about this decision and what it will mean for those looking to showcase Yellowjacket pride this week.
“We are excited for this move! Let’s make some noise and show the visiting teams what hometown spirit looks like!” the release concluded. “Thank you always for your support of all things Denison ISD! This is just another reminder that… IT’S GREAT TO BE A YELLOW JACKET!!!”
