1948-2023
Connie Lynn Jones, 74, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2023. She lost her fight to Leukemia, but not before defying the odds. Doctors told her 1 year; she showed them her TOUGH and RESILIENT nature and had 3 great years. She was born to Clinton & Rita Alderson on July 17, 1948 in Iola, Kansas. They lived in Joplin, Missouri for a few years and eventually moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1952. She attended Omaha North High School where she was Head Cheerleader, crowned Homecoming Queen in 1965 and graduated in 1966.
After graduating High School, she moved to Kansas to attend Allen County Community Junior College for a bit where she lived with her beloved Aunt Mac. She then moved to Oklahoma City with her family where she worked at Sears in the Administrative Office and was eventually introduced to the father of her children, Ron Jones.
They moved to Denison where they raised their children. Connie began working at Denison ISD in October of 1978 where she worked in the business office and eventually became Business Office Coordinator retiring in May of 2016 after 38 years of service. Many say she ran a tight ship. Everyone had to make sure to dot all their I’s and cross all their T’s or she would let them know. During these years her children were her focus! She loved her family and was completely dedicated to them.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Connie also loved landscaping, going dancing with friends, bird watching, all things Christmas, bowling with her 3 Amigas, and her Grandkids. Throughout her entire life, she was helpful to many and always smiling in hopes of bringing joy to others. She was always full of life, never met a stranger and touched so many! She was a strong, brave soul and as soon as you met her, you realized that she was a force to be reckoned with!
She was preceded in death by her father, Clinton Alderson, children’s father, Ron Jones, Aunts, Florence Weiland Henderson, Eva Weiland Rawlings, Milda Weiland Danielson, Maxine Weiland Smith, Uncles, Curtis Weiland, Clifford (Chig) Weiland, Kenneth Weiland, and Al Weiland.
She is survived by her mother, Rita Alderson of Oklahoma City, Brother, CA Alderson and wife Sheila of Oklahoma City, Son, Lance Jones and wife Chandler of Denison, Daughter, Nicole Hawkins, and husband Brian of Denison, Granddaughter, Roni Douda of Stephenville, Grandson, Rhett Douda of Denison, Niece, Hunterlyn Alderson of Oklahoma City, Cousin, Tyra O’Rourke.
Funeral service will be held at 10am Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Waples United Methodist Church in Denison. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 5 to 7pm Friday, February 3, 2023.
