The Texoma Regional Blood Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The blood center is located 3911 Texoma Parkway in Sherman.

Speeding and distracted driving put workers lives at risk
While we are enjoying some gardening downtime in front of the fireplace during the cold weather, it is a good time to make some resolutions to improve our gardens as well as our personal well-being. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an activity of moderate intensity, such as gardening, for 2 ½ hours each week can reduce the risk for high blood pressure, obesity, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, colon cancer, and premature death.

For pets accustomed to a certain routine or way of life, having to adjust to great or sudden changes can be extremely difficult. For some pets, these changes can even result in a depressive state.

Downtown Denison currently has enough parking to meet its needs, a recent parking study found. The city council recently received the results of a study on the current parking outlook for the central business district that found it used about 70 percent of its parking on its busiest days.

Denison is expanding the scope of work taking place at Loy Lake Dam. The City Council recently approved a $500,000 contract with SYB Construction for improvements aimed at mitigating a possible leak at the toe of the dam.
