The top two teams in the District 11-3A standings moved up in the Texas Girls Coaches Association statewide volleyball rankings for the second straight week with their rematch on the horizon.
Gunter (26-10) is up another spot this week to No. 11 in the 3A rankings while Bells (32-4) also climbed one slot to No. 15.

The Collinsville Pirates and Gunter Tigers held their positions in this week’s Texas Football magazine statewide rankings as they are on the verge of clinching playoff spots and once again look to earn their respective district titles.

BLUE RIDGE — The Bells Panthers knew they needed to bounce back in a big way after their lopsided loss to Gunter in the district opener.
An offensive outburst in the middle two quarters against Blue Ridge provided that opportunity as Bells picked up a 60-21 victory against the Tigers in 8-3A (II) action.

The first half looked a lot like the last time the Denison Yellow Jackets and Melissa Cardinals played each other with an underdog hanging around against a state contender.
But this time the Jackets were unable to keep pace in the second half as top-ranked Melissa pulled away for a 40-14 victory over the Denison Yellow Jackets in District 7-5A (II) action at Munson Stadium.
