Today’s nonstop 24/7 electronic media environment places a premium on mayhem, turmoil, and destructive and tragic events. In consequence, important positive developments are easily overlooked.

From the lake to the pools, to the area shopping centers and parks, the outdoor season will bring a lot of people into the region for the fun and relaxation that takes place around Texoma during the time between Easter and Labor Day.


Trump Administration arbitrary moves to restructure the international trade environment to accommodate White House whims have suddenly run into reality, specifically established laws. This confrontation is still in the early stages, but does not bode well for President Trump and his ardent protectionist associates.

Life has a way of sometimes throwing you strange, unexpected reminders of the past. I had one of these moments about a week ago when shooting photos for one of my stories.

Famed composed Leonard Bernstein once said that you need two things to achieve greatness, a plan and not quite enough time. The phrase can mean a lot of things, but I've personally always taken it to mean that sometimes it takes a bit of pressure and ingenuity to solve a problem.


From the time I could read as a young child, I have had my eye on the birthday column in the Herald Democrat. Sitting just below the Good Morning column, the birthdays were not just a celebration of my day when it came around each year, it was a time to see so many other names.

The whirlwind four-day Middle East visit by President Donald Trump underscores both the complex nature of relationships within that volatile, vital region and his distinctive style. Since mainstream media coverage of Trump is so often negative, indeed the adversarial relationship is now established, more dispassionate evaluation becomes highly desirable.
