As something of a cinema buff in my own right, I've come to the belief that a movie doesn't have to be good to be an enjoyable watch. I've seen plenty of films that have caused me to cringe at bad acting, plot holes that you could drive a truck through and just stupid plain bad premises and yet and as the credits roll I could safely say I enjoyed myself.

As a old hand with the news around Sherman and Denison, I regularly get asked about a lot of the goings-on in the community. From the stories I've covered to the latest rumors of something new coming to town, I get asked about a lot of things on a daily basis.

The annual conference of central bankers and others engaged with economics at Jackson Hole Wyoming August 21-23 has been especially noteworthy. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell indicated more clearly than in the past that a cut in interest rates is likely at the September meeting of the Federal Reserve Board Open Market Committee.

For all the advancements in modern technology that we make, it feels like we become more reliant on them to do the most basic of things. It becomes all more apparent how much we rely on technology when it is taken away from us.

For area children, the summer is coming to an end. The actual summer season does not end until late September, but I know I am not the only one that aligns my idea of the summer season with the school year.

After more than 15 years, King of the Hill has made its return to television, and I'll tell you what, it hasn't lost its step. The slice of life animated comedy officially made its return on Hulu late Sunday night with the debut of a 10-episode 14th season.

Forrest Gump famously said that life as a whole is like a box of chocolates and you don't know what you are going to get in the end. I often feel like the same could be said for my career as a whole some days, and this week was a prime example of that.
