Sitting in my darkened room watching the weather forecast for the next week gave me an instant dislike for Francine. That's Hurricane Francine to be specific, and that crazy storm may have gone and ruined our string of crisp fall-like mornings by bringing the heat back to North Texas.

While there is a lot of talk about September being the start of pumpkin everything season, I am a purest in that I think of September as apple season.

There are certain things that come with the start of September: fall starts to show its colors, a certain song by Earth, Wind and Fire becomes popular again for some reason, the days start to get a little shorter and cooler days, hopefully, start to become more common. The other thing that comes with the start of September is the unofficial start to Halloween season.
This summer while I waited out the gosh awful temperatures outside, I started watching an old television show called "In the Heat of the Night."
