It is that time of year again where residents around Texoma will have their voices heard when they hit the polls for the May 7 election. Early voting began Monday.
“A brave new nightmare.” Those words from former Labor Secretary Robert Reich described the threat created by Elon Musk’s bid to restore free speech values by buying Twitter. Yet, despite warnings that censorship is necessary “for democracy to survive,” neither the Tesla CEO and billionaire nor ordinary citizens appear to be sufficiently terrified of free speech.

One of the reasons that I love being the person who covers Grayson County commissioners is the fact that there is literally no telling what the group is going to talk about on any given Tuesday. You can count on hearing about road work and tax rates, but the group also gives a fair amount of education on topics ranging from horsemanship to football and movies.

I like to think I’m happy and reasonably stable, whatever that might mean in these crazy days. But as I wade through my daily routine, I find myself becoming anxious.
Permanent daylight saving time (DST) is widely favored by the public, and the House of Representatives may or may not follow the Senate in its recent approval of such a change in law. But that delicious extra hour of evening recreation in the spring and summer comes at a major cost to people’s sleep, mood, alertness and productivity for the remainder of the year.
“Sesame Street“ Muppets are eager to share what they’ve learned from their new community projects, including The Welcome Garden, and how neighbors can help each other deal with scary things, like COVID-19. USA TODAY chatted with two of these neighbors: the show’s first Asian Muppet, Ji-Young, a Korean American who loves her electric guitar and skateboard, and Abby Cadabby, a fairy in training with wings and a magic wand.
In response to President Joe Biden’s decision to lift a Trump-era policy that reduced the number of migrants entering the U.S., Gov. Greg Abbott recently launched new initiatives he said would address border security.
Dear Dr. Roach: I am a 62-year-old female. After about two weeks (sometimes less) of taking watersoluble vitamin supplements, I experience severe abdominal discomfort or a burning sensation. It feels like I either have a UTI or a vaginal infection. I also experienced the same symptoms taking collagen. It doesn’t matter which form or brand of supplements I take. I have tried most. I have gone to my doctor and have had both infections ruled out multiple times. I finally figured out that it was being caused by the supplements. When I stop taking them, the discomfort subsides within a week. I have no trouble with fat-soluble vitamins. I have asked every doctor I have seen in the past 30 years about this, and none has heard of it. Their solution is to not take them. As I age I am concerned that I am not able to support my health with only my diet. Am I getting enough vitamins without supplements if I eat well?
1Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued the federal government Friday in an effort to keep the Biden administration from ending a Trump-era policy of expelling asylum-seekers at the border to stop the spread of COVID-19.
