The old saying goes that time flies when you are having fun. While I won't discount that, I've come to believe that time can go quicker than you'd expect in both the good and bad times.

  The second term of President Donald Trump has begun with a whirlwind of public initiatives of various kinds. Federal employees are being offered corporate-style buyouts, agencies and whole departments are being upended.

Last night, millions of fans of the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs tuned in to the SuperBowl to see the two teams vie for the Lombardi Trophy. Meanwhile, the rest of us just watched the game for the sheer spectacle of it all.

This week I spoke to a couple of young women who competed in the Miss Tri County pageant in Sherman last weekend. This is not the first time I have interviewed women who have participated in or are going to participate in a pageant.
