HAROLD BARNARD

Whitewright - On March 22, 2023, Harold Bray Barnard received his heavenly wings. He is no longer bound by the restrictions created by bouts with cancer and Parkinson’s. Although selfishly missed by earth-bound family and friends, he is now sharing Heaven with his parents and siblings. Harold was born as the sixth and final child of Wesley and Veda Bray Barnard in Gatesville, Coryell County, Texas. Tagged with the nickname of ‘baby’, this nickname was used by the family until Harold graduated from Gatesville High School and moved to Dallas. Initially working in a bakery with his older brother, Basil, it wasn’t long until he was able to secure a job with Texas Instruments, which he kept and retired from, 35 years later. Two children, Doyle and Sherry, were born from his first marriage with Jimmie Stibbins. Later, 40 happy years were spent with Judie Mitchell, meeting in 1981 and marrying in 1985. Harold is survived by wife, Judie Barnard, children, Doyle Barnard and Sherry Barnard Cary (Michael), step son Jim Lemons (Sarah), 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Preceding him to Heaven were parents Wesley and Veda Barnard, brothers Otis, Basil and Edward, and sister Mary Ann Churnesky. Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas, on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Visitation begins at 1:30pm, Services at 2:00pm. Special love to granddaughter Rachel Cork, for the love and care provided to her grandfather at end of life. Arrangements are with Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
