Mollie Beth Stratton, 81, of Pottsboro, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Mollie was born on July 11, 1940 in Sherman, Texas to Don Morton and Mollie Dean (Head) McConnell. She was raised in Gunter, Texas. Mollie married Wayne Perry Stratton on November 2, 1962 in Commerce. Mollie was a member of Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman. While raising their family in Allen, Mollie started a flourishing business, Country Embroidery, specializing in custom chenille patches on letterman jackets. Mollie and Wayne loved cheering on their grandchildren, swinging in their garden watching the birds and the squirrels, and spending time out on Lake Texoma with their family.

Jerry Windham, 80, died peacefully in Arlington, Texas on April 7th, 2022 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Allen High School in 1960 and also a proud veteran of the U.S.

SHERMAN - John Adams Jarvis, a lifetime resident of Sherman, left this world unexpectedly surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, April 25th 2022, just three days after his 60th birthday. John, AKA “T-bone,” was born April 22, 1962 to the late Thomas and Jerri Jarvis. John graduated from Sherman High School then attended Texas Tech and the University of Texas before returning home to co-own and operate the Texas Laundry.

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Timothy Frank Lucas of Bonney Lake, Washington on the third day of March 2022, at the age of 38 years old. Timothy was born in Lancaster, California, but spent much of his childhood growing up in Poulsbo, Washington.

SAVOY - Nancy Lee Pritchett Taylor, age 87, of Savoy, Texas was born on October 22, 1934, in Conroe, TX to Paul Pritchett and Pearl Pritchett and passed away on February 18, 2022, at her home in Savoy with her daughter Laura Barton-Gonzalez and grandchildren by her side.

DENISON - Benny Alan Elk passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Benny was born December 26, 1925 to Robert Charlie and Ina Lucille Blakey Elk in Dodd City, Texas. He attended Savoy High School and then served in the United States Army in WWll from 1944 to 1946 in Manilla. He returned and met the love of his life Louise Winkler and they married January 15, 1949, married 73 years. They had 4 children, CJ, Alan, Phillip and Rhonda. Benny and Louise worked hard to raise their children right and give them everything they needed and still try to help them to this day. Together they accomplished that and a great deal more. He worked at Safeway – Brookside plant close to 30 years, retiring in 1989.

Billy Wayne Moore, 90, died unexpectedly in his home Sunday, April 24th, 2022. Bill was born March 2, 1932 to Tom David Moore and Lillie Mae Lazenby Moore at the Whitting Place. He spent his growing up years picking cotton, working in the hay field and milking cows, part of a hard working farm family. Bill was baptized in the 1940’s with his Daddy and brother Charlie at the Bells School after the Methodist Church burned down in Bells. He attended Bells Schools where he was named Best All Around Boy his Senior Year, 1950. He carried that title throughout his entire life. After graduation he was drafted into the US Army stationed at March Air Reserve Base Air Force in Riverside, CA.

Kathryn Elizabeth McClure (aka “Duke” or “Mammaw”) was born on January 30th, 1931 to Thomas Joseph Norwood and Gladys Norwood in Wilmer, Texas where she graduated from Wilmer Hutchens High School in 1948 after her tenure playing bass drum in the marching band. She grew up living and working in a grocery store and gas station owned by her parents with her sister and two brothers in Wilmer, Texas. She met her husband, James Dudley McClure, in the summer of 1950 and they were married at First Baptist Church in Lancaster, Texas. Always stubborn and outspoken, uncovered in her belongings was a letter from her husband’s Army Sergeant urging her to be patient and stop writing to them while Dudley served in Korea. They built their first home in Lancaster before living a short time in Dallas and then New Jersey. They settled in Sherman, Texas with their two children - and reason for being - David Brian McClure and Brenda Lynn McClure where they lived the rest of their lives. Brian and Brenda were her pride and joy and there was nothing on this earth that made her happier. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband and children, parents, and brothers Tommy and Paul Norwood. Kathryn’s memory will always be cherished by her grandchildren Adam Chastain and his wife Ranee Chastian, Kellie McClure and her husband Charles Baldwin, Carson McClure and his partner Lolo Degelia, and Bruce Hutchins who all affectionately called her, “Mammaw.” She was eternally proud of her grandchildren and loved being a grandmother. Kathryn was also Mammaw to her great granddaughters, Nikki Backest and Mackenzie Chastain, and was newly made a great-great grandmother to Kenleigh Renee Clement. She will be missed by her little sister and fierce protector Rosemary Davis and her husband Mac Davis along with their children Bruce, Kevin, Paige, Kimberly, and Wayne. She will also be remembered by beloved nieces and nephews Teresa, Eddie, Krissy, Kevin, Bruce, Kiki, John, Bruce, Tommy, Kathy, and their families. Kathryn and “Mammaw’s House” will also be remembered by three generations of Sherman kids who spent hours playing video games, pinball, pool, basketball, having sleepovers, and basically getting up to no good from 1970-2018. You can tell how old a person is by whether they use the nickname “Duke” or “Mammaw” when referencing Kathryn. She loved a loud, boisterous house and always kept her door unlocked. She could keep you on the phone like nobody’s business and she loved baseball, the Hallmark Channel, and when people would drop by unexpectedly. Her final words whenever saying goodbye to her grandchildren will be the final words here: be sweet!
